HMRC has granted a deferral of the 31 July payment on account to all self-assessment taxpayers. This means that individuals that were due to make a UK tax payment on 31 July 2020, now has until 31 January 2021 to make this payment.
This deferral is automatic and no application is required to be sent to HMRC, during this period the usually penalties and interest for late payment will not be charged.
Some individuals may decide to make the payment due in July in the normal way to avoid a large payment in January 2021.
